108 stone Tibetan Mala's

Buddhist prayer beads or malas (Sanskritmālā "garland"[1]) are a traditional tool used to count the number of times a mantra is recited, breaths while meditating, counting prostrations, or the repetitions of a buddha's name. They are similar to other forms of prayer beads used in various world religions and therefore the term "Buddhist rosary" also appears.
Conventional Buddhist tradition counts the beads at 108, signifying the mortal desires of mankind. The number is attributed to the Mokugenji Sutra wherein Shakyamuni Buddha instructed King Virudhaka to make such beads and recite the Three Jewels of Buddhism. In later years, various Buddhist sects would either retain the number of beads, or divide them into consecutive twos, fours, for brevity or informality. A decorative tassel is sometimes attached to the beads, flanked by talismans or amulets depending on one's local tradition. Because prayer beads are often painted in pigment, various traditional schools attribute a consecration ritual by the Sangha to the beads, to "open the eyes" for the purpose of achieving Enlightenment unique to the Karma of each believer.

Is it Really Time for the Holidays.....

It seems like only yesterday we were flat on our backs sucking up the suns rays and now I'm in the midst of planning for our Holiday Sales.  To be on the other end of the retail sale can be just as stressful as not missing out on those huge discounts you planned out for weeks prior to Black Friday.  Its the biggest digital sales day for B.Birdwatcher and I usually like to do justice by giving my shoppers a great thank you for their continued support during the year. So...I'm off to figure out this year's promotion....know this.... it will be EPIC

Vintage Find in Houston

One of the best parts about travel is finding the unexpected gem. While in Houston bead shopping, I wandered into a church's guilded shop and to my surprise found a 1895 Medal of Chitral given to Indian and British troops for their service. I knew immediately that I wanted to use the medal and transform it into a necklace. I found a dark red poppy jasper which has the properties to align the chakras and balances the yin-yang, physical, and emotional. It is a stone of protection, and is used in particular for protection during astral travel.

Welcome to B.Birdwatcher Spiritual Stones

After being persuaded by a friend to attend Oprah's "The Life You Want" Tour, I started to critically think about my passions.  It had been a rough year in 2014, where I questioned my career successes as well as my upcoming milestone birthday and accomplishments to date.  For my happiness, it was time to do things that created a path that would ultimately have a  positive and lasting effect on my life. And the journey all started with a shopping trip (of course.)  For years, I had loved wearing the beautiful stones bracelets I purchased from a high-end retailer and a recent purchase of a black onyx bracelet somehow subconsciously kept revisiting me in my dreams.  For two nights, theses powerful thoughts of designing and making the bracelets myself pushed through my subconscious to actually wake me at 3 am.  So, on the 3rd morning I decided to visit a local beading shop and sign up for a beginner's beading class.  Of course, by the time I attended the class I was already collected lots of pretty semi-precious and precious gemstones and making some on my own.  The bracelets were to be Christmas gifts to my friends and family however with me not being able to keep secrets very well, I started to show my friend's their "gifts."  They loved them and prompted me to sell them but who would buy them......3 weeks later I made my first sale!  A week later, the virtual doors of B.Birdwatcher Spiritual Stones opened !
